Mark 4:35-41 (NKJV)

“On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”.

Lessons of this storm Storms come in different forms, but there is always a great calm at the end. What do storms reveal?

¡1. Reveal the brevity of life and teaches us to take advantage of today. Psalm 90:12 says, “So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

¡2. Reveal to us that life is not always fair. Bad things can happen to good people. “There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was blameless and upright, and one who feared God and shunned evil.” (Job 1:1 NKJV)

¡3. Nothing we see is permanent, everything changes except God. We live in a temporal world. “For I am the LORD, I do not change; therefore, you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.” (Malachi 3:6 NKJV)

¡4. Storms reveal that nothing can be taken for granted. Changes in life can be sudden and unexpected. We must be prepared! “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8 NKJV)

¡5. Storms challenge our spiritual life and reveal the true heart of men. It reveals where our true trust lies and shows confidence in people is futile.

“Thus says the LORD: “Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his strength, whose heart departs from the LORD.“ (Jeremiah 17:5 NKJV)“The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked (incurably sick); Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10 NKJV).

I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.” (Jeremiah 17:9-10 NKJV)The storm is over, and the great calm is near!
